Abstract

|
Lipofibromatous hamartoma is a rare benign tumor, which is slowly growing proliferative fibrofatty tissue surrounds and infiltrates major nerves and their brandies, most often affecting ;he median nerve. Our case involved the volar ulnar digital nerve of the thumb, was treated with a partial excision of the tumor. Treatment of this benign neoplasm is controversial (Amadio et al. 1988). Important nerve branches should not be sacrificed in order to achieve radical excision. We report a case where the volar digital nerve of the thumb was affected by this tumorlike process.
